How to Stack in Package Chaos
Neat piles that still leave a walking lane and respect handling marks.
FunTap Games sells two verbs next to each other: sort, then stack. Players hear “neat stacks” and build sculptures. Package Chaos is a warehouse. Stacks have to be true, stable, and walkable. This page assumes you already know a match when you see one. If you do not, stop here and read how to sort first. Stacking a false match is how you create a second game called “unbuilding.”
The Steam copy says you discover matching items, create neat stacks, and bring order to the chaos. Shelf Complete is the achievement that cares about a finished bay. Too Heavy is the achievement that cares about what you try to carry while building that bay. Keep both in your head while you place cardboard.
Three rules before you make a pretty tower
Rule 1: identity before geometry. A cube on a cube looks professional. If the logos disagree, it is still wrong. Geometry is how you store a truth, not how you invent one.
Rule 2: heavy and dull on the bottom. Electronics cartons that feel dense belong under collectibles that feel light. Fragile goods and special shipments do not belong at the base of a heroic pillar. The tips page is the protection manual; this rule is the stacking version of the same idea.
Rule 3: leave a body-width lane. First-person cameras hate corridors you create by accident. If you cannot strafe past a stack with a box in your hands, the stack is too fat, too deep, or too close to the opposite bay. Walking space is part of the shelf.
Build stacks like a stock clerk, not like a sculptor
- Found the bay. One identity per bay until the warehouse runs out of obvious homes. Mixing families in one column is how labels disappear behind other labels.
- Pad the floor cell. Start with the largest true match of that identity. Large on small is how towers lean into the aisle.
- Match faces. Turn logos and handling arrows so you can still read them from the lane. Future-you is the next worker in this building, and future-you will not remember that the fragile stamp faces the wall.
- Cap the height. If the camera starts clipping cardboard, you have built a wall, not a stack. Start a second column of the same identity instead of a taller lie.
- Stop while you can still grab the back of the shelf. Deep stacks that bury the first box you placed are how 4,096 becomes 4,096 plus an archaeology DLC.
The warehouse walkthrough talks about which neighborhoods to found first. This page only cares that each neighborhood remains usable.
Carry weight is a stacking problem
You cannot build a honest column if you cannot move the pieces. Steam lists Too Heavy among the highlighted achievements, which is as close as FunTap has come to printing “there is a carry limit” on the store page. Practical consequences:
- Do not pick up a second large electronics carton “since you are already here.”
- Make two trips. The game has no shift clock. Steam even tags it as playable without timed input.
- If every trip hurts, that is a skills problem. Rank carry and movement on the skills tier list instead of inventing a six-box crane with your face buttons.
Controllers make this worse if look sensitivity is high; you will clip a stack while turning. Fix binds on the controls page, then come back.
Fragile stacks are a different species
FunTap named fragile goods and special shipments as their own identities. They still have size, color, logo, and label, but the handling mark wins. Stacking rules for them:
- Never use a fragile carton as a platform for something heavier.
- Prefer shallower columns you can unbuild without a landslide.
- Keep special shipments at a height your camera already uses, so you do not forget they exist behind a fortress of brown.
- If a handling mark says this-way-up, obey it even when the opposite orientation would tessellate better. Tessellation is not the achievement. Shelf Complete is.
When in doubt, isolate. A lonely correct fragile row is better than a mixed masterpiece. The package types page ranks how annoying each family is to file; stacking difficulty follows that ranking more than it follows your aesthetic.
What neat actually looks like
Neat in Package Chaos is readable. You can glance at a bay and name the identity. You can pull one box without an avalanche. You can walk the lane with a large carton and not hold your breath. Screenshots of cathedral-like towers are fun for the review, but they are a bad KPI for 4,096 packages.
If a stack photographs well and files badly, knock it down now while you still remember which labels you faked. The sorting checklist includes a “lane still walkable” box for a reason.
When to stop stacking and go spend money
Stacks that are true but slow usually mean you are under-skilled, not under-inspired. Stocking pays. FunTap’s own pitch is earn money and unlock skills. After a bay looks honest, pause, buy the upgrade that removes the actual friction, then found the next identity. That loop is how Skill Check and Skill Veteran sit next to Shelf Complete on the same 12-achievement list.
If you are still placing boxes like they are Jenga blocks after you know the rules, you do not need another metaphor. You need a slower hand, a lower look sensitivity, and a lane. Package Chaos will wait. The packages are not going anywhere — that is, unfortunately, the premise.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common warehouse questions.
Should I stack by color or by logo?
Stack by identity: logo and label first, handling marks as vetoes. Color-only towers are how you hide mismatches. Confirm matches in how to sort.
Why do I keep getting Too Heavy?
You are carrying more than the current limit. Make two trips or buy a carry-related skill. See skills and achievements.
Can I stack different package types together?
Only if they truly share identity. Fragile goods should not be a platform for electronics. When families compete for space, isolate rather than mix.
