Package Chaos Skills and Money
Stocking pays Gold. Spend it on Magnet Hand, carry slots, or the walk between banners.
FunTap Games pitched Package Chaos with three beats: organize 4,096 packages, restore a chaotic warehouse, earn money and unlock skills. The Steam achievement list agrees. Skill Check and Skill Veteran sit next to First Stocked, 100 Stocked, and 1,000 Stocked. The economy is not a side mode. It is how the cozy loop stays interesting after the first aisle looks honest.
Steam screenshots of the Skills menu show Gold as the currency and named nodes with levels. Magnet Hand is printed in-game: it pulls indexed ground items that share the held item’s SKU into available hand slots. At lock it is LV 0/5, costs 80 Gold, and the next rank fills available hand slots on a 60-second cooldown. Other diamonds on that board cover walking, sprinting, scanning, and carrying. Treat every upgrade as an answer to a sentence you can say out loud: you walk too slowly between Eagle Post and Polar Bear Cold Chain, you cannot fill hand slots, or you keep missing the same SKU on the floor. If you cannot name the pain, do not buy the toy. Rank options on the skills tier list after you understand the philosophy here.
Where the money comes from
Stocking. Not floor-clearing, not photogenic towers, not walking laps. Steam’s highlighted achievements use the word stocked on purpose. A box becomes income when it lives with its identity. That is why how to sort is upstream of this page. False matches can still make the floor look empty while the register stays quiet.
Practical earning habits:
- Finish a small true batch and park it. Micro-payouts beat a two-hour sculpture that you then undo.
- Prefer identities you can still see on the remaining floor. Hunting one rare collectible across the whole building is a poor first-hour gold farm.
- Leave lanes open so the next batch is faster. Time is money even when the game has no clock. Steam tagged Package Chaos as playable at your own pace, which means the only timer is your evening.
If stocking feels unrewarding, you are probably stacking without sorting. Go back to inspect. The sorting checklist exists for that exact relapse.
How to think about upgrades
Until FunTap publishes a labeled skill tree, group upgrades by job:
Movement. If the pain is walking empty-handed between a far reject row and a founded bay, movement is S-tier early. Empty walking is the tax you pay for a 4,096-box map.
Carry. Too Heavy is the loudest mechanical hint on the achievement list. If large electronics cartons force two trips that you hate, carry is the purchase. If you only hate it because you keep grabbing two cartons “since you are here,” that is a habit, not a skill gap. Read how to stack.
Inspect / search / Magnet Hand. Magnet Hand is the printed SKU vacuum: hold a Mini PC, pull other Mini PC cartons into empty hand slots. It is powerful after you can already read a label, and messy if you magnet the wrong SKU across a lane. Do not buy it before you have learned the five axes. Skills should amplify a habit, not replace looking at shelf tags.
Stacking helpers. Anything that lets you place more precisely or reach a high bay is for after the floor identities are founded. Building cathedrals in hour one is how you spend money on a museum nobody can restock.
The tier list hub keeps the ranking current as players report real names. This page stays the decision framework so a patch cannot obsolete the advice.
A spend order for the first coins
- Play until you can say the pain in one clause.
- Buy a single upgrade that attacks that clause.
- Stock another 50 to 100 true boxes.
- Ask whether the pain moved. If it moved, the skill worked. If it did not, you bought a cosmetic.
- Only then consider a second purchase.
Skill Check is almost certainly the “you bought something” badge. Skill Veteran is the “you kept buying” badge. FunTap put twelve achievements on the board; two of them are about this loop. That is a hint to engage with it, not a hint to dump every coin the moment the UI blinks.
Money mistakes that look productive
- Buying movement because the warehouse is big, while you still mis-file. Faster wrong is still wrong.
- Buying carry so you can haul mixed junk. Carry is for true matches. Mixed junk should stay on the floor in a reject row.
- Saving forever. Cozy games still have an economy. A skill that shortens empty walks pays for itself across 4,096 placements.
- Ignoring Steam Cloud after a spend. Cloud saves are listed. Do not test a refund-adjacent experiment without a backup of the night you earned Skill Veteran.
How skills connect to the rest of the wiki
New players should still start in Getting Started. Controllers and look sensitivity belong on controls; no skill will fix a bind that throws boxes into the lights. Fragile goods still need the habits on tips even after you are rich. Achievements that mix stocking and skills are documented on the achievements page.
FunTap is a small team. Skills may be renamed, repriced, or patched after August 28, 2026. When that happens, we will update the updates hub and the tier list. We will not pretend a wiki invented a “Golden Tape Dash” that is not in the build.
Spend like a warehouse supervisor. Name the bottleneck. Pay to remove it. Go back to looking at labels. That is the entire skill system, even before the tooltips get verbose.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common warehouse questions.
How do you earn money in Package Chaos?
By stocking packages in their correct identity groups. Floor-clearing without inspect usually pays worse. See how to sort.
What is the first skill I should buy?
The one that removes the pain you can already name — usually movement or carry. Rank them on the skills tier list.
Do skills expire?
FunTap has not advertised limited-time skills. Treat purchases as permanent quality-of-life unless a patch note on the updates hub says otherwise.
